This January High Trees started our first Information Advice and Guidance course, accredited by NOCN at Level 3.
The 14 learner’s were made up of some High Trees staff, staff from partner organisations here in Lambeth and further afield, and some independent learner’s who wanted a qualification to help their careers in the sector.
The qualification is designed to provide learners with the skills and underpinning knowledge required by employers in a broad range of contexts where information, advice or guidance is provided. The qualifications are appropriate for learners who have responsibility for information, advice or guidance as part of their core work and for those who may be involved in general signposting. Organisations are also increasingly recognising the value that a qualification like this holds, not just in the increased skills and capacity of their staff, but also because a Level 3 in IAG, or staff working towards this, are necessary to be Matrix accredited (which in turn is necessary for certain sources of statutory funding).
The type of advice that the advisers on this course currently delivered was broad covering employment, homelessness, careers, and training and education. This created a fantastic learner environment where everyone gained from sharing their knowledge and skills.
Feedback from the course so far has been: “Fantastic course”, “Great training”, “I learned a lot and I’m already improving my IAG”, “felt my educational needs were met and gained invaluable knowledge”.
We’re really proud of the course we’ve developed and are due to be running it again in September – for more information please give us a call on 0208 671 31 32 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
