Preparation to ICT Entry 3

Our accredited Functional Skills ICT courses are designed for learners who want to learn practical, transferable skills in ICT in order to work confidently, effectively and independently in life and achieve a qualification.

This is a preparation course to ensure your skills and knowledge are at the right level to enter Entry 3 ICT. This course runs on Tuesday 10am-4.30pm until the 21st September at High Trees Community Education and Training Hub. By completing the course, you will demonstrate that you have mastered the use of ICT in everyday life and will make you more attractive to employers.  You will gain a Functional Skills qualification in ICT which will cover – email and file management – presenting information in the correct format – designing professional looking posters/presentations - using Excel to make calculations, design charts and graphs - maintaining a secure network – taking into account relevance, bias and copyright when using information. 

 

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

Interact with and use an ICT system and tablet (iPad) to meet given needs e.g. use simple search features to find and select information 

Demonstrate understanding of the need to stay safe and respect others when using ICT-based communication 

Read, send and receive email 

Enter, edit and format information in Word to achieve the required outcome 

Produce relevant pieces of work on PowerPoint 

Insert data, calculate simple formulas and use basic Excel functions 

Interact with and use an ICT system to meet needs and solve problems e.g. to display data in a graph, or organise information 

Demonstrate understanding of the need to stay safe when using ICT e.g. minimise the risk of computer viruses 

Apply editing, formatting and layout techniques to meet needs using different software applications 

Access a search engine and find a recipe of choice 

Apply a range of editing, formatting and layout techniques to meet needs, including text, tables, graphics, records, numerical data, charts, graphs or other digital content 

Organise electronic messages, attachments and contacts
