Our Employment & Careers team has been busy developing new relationships with employers, growing our employer engagement offer to help more people access meaningful employment opportunities.
Most recently, we teamed up with Transport UK, a major rail and bus transport company, to run some Employer Information Sessions for those interested in becoming Bus Drivers. These interactive sessions gave participants the chance to speak directly with employers, ask questions, and get a real sense of what to expect from this role. We were pleased with the results from these sessions, with three participants receiving job offers to become Bus Drivers.
The team also recently partnered with the Vistry Group, a leading affordable housing developer, who offered practical work experience opportunities for young people accessing employment support through High Trees. Five young people took part in the work experience programme, getting hands-on experience in a number of roles within the construction industry. As part of the programme, they were also supported to apply for the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) cards, a crucial step for those wanting to start a career in construction.
Thanks to this work experience, two participants have already taken their next step into employment, starting apprenticeships as a Scaffolder and a Document Controller!
“I’m really excited to start my apprenticeship as a Document Controller. I’ve now done two weeks of work experience and High Trees made this possible. I’m thankful for all the support.”
We’re proud to see this real-world impact and excited to continue building relationships with employers that connect our community with meaningful opportunities.
