Post title: Children, Young People and Families Manager
Department: Children, Young People and Families
Salary: £32,000- £36,000 FTE
Hours: Part time (21 hours) or Full Time (35 hours) roles considered
High Trees Community Development Trust is a community anchor charity based in Tulse Hill in Lambeth. We deliver a range of services focused in 4 key areas – Children, Young People and Families; Employment & Careers; Education and Training and Community Development. All our work is focused on improving the social and economic welfare of the local community.
We are looking for a highly skilled individual to lead our Children, Young People and Families Team. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a small but ambitious and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of services from Tulse Hill Adventure Playground & Family Hub, rooted firmly in the local community.
You will lead the design, development, delivery, management and ongoing evaluation of a range of high quality children, young people and family provision in the heart of Lambeth. Our local community is at the centre of everything we do, and you will have solid professional experience within a community setting that demonstrates your ability to be responsive to community need and build meaningful partnerships with community groups, charity partners and other local organisations. You will have an excellent understanding of the landscape in which charities deliver their services and the statutory and funding frameworks within which we operate. Whether at Management level or as a highly skilled youth worker, you will have a track record of delivering innovative and responsive services to Children Young People and Families.
You will have overall responsibility for leading a team delivering a diverse range of activities (including Tulse Hill Adventure Playground, Homework Clubs, targeted Youth Work Provision, out of School and Holiday Services and a Family Support Programme) and will have demonstrable experience of delivering several projects simultaneously and managing staff – with the exceptionally strong organisational skills that this requires. You will support the Senior Leadership Team in developing the charity’s strategic vision for the growth and development in this area and looking for ways the charity can expand its reach and impact within the local community.
A key aspect of the role is contract monitoring and ideally you’ll have experience of reporting back on performance directly to funders or contract managers, but more important are the underlying skills of attention to detail, ease of working to clearly set targets and the ability to project manage several programmes at once. You will seek continual improvements for our services, focused on high quality provision while prioritising impact measurement.
The role is available full time for candidates who would like to be directly involved in delivery, and part time for candidates who would prefer to step away from front line delivery but use their considerable experience of delivery to enable our youth workers to deliver services.
