High Trees Community Development Trust is a community anchor charity based in Tulse Hill in Lambeth. We deliver a range of services focused in 4 key areas – Children, Young People and Family Services, Employment and Careers, Education and Training and Community Engagement and Development. All our work is focused on improving the social and economic welfare of the local community.
Our Senior Youth Worker will sit at the core of our Children, Young People and Families Team, working as the senior practitioner and ensuring the smooth running of all our programmes and services. You will be part of a small and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of programmes and activities from our Adventure Playground and within local schools.
Reporting to the Children, Young People and Families Manager, you will be the senior practitioner in all our delivery, planning and delivering sessions, ensuring best practice and ensuring the monitoring is carried out in accordance to our multiple contractual and funding requirements.
The work of the Children, Young People and Families is diverse, and current services include an Adventure Playground, Coaching in local schools, Homework Clubs, Youth Work Provision, out of School and Holiday Services and a Family Support Programme. You will ensure all of these services are appropriately scheduled, monitored and reported on whilst working with the Children, Young People and Families Manager to plan and deliver service improvement. You will understand the wide-ranging challenges facing young people and will be flexible in adjusting your practice to meet these needs.
Within your team, you will also hold responsibility for communications and outreach– ensuring copy is regularly provided for team specific and organisational wide promotional material to allow High Trees to promote its services across the borough and beyond and delivering a ongoing and targeted outreach programme to ensure our services are reaching those who need them most. A strong understanding of how your team sits within the wider work of the organisation and building strong relationships internally, as well as using your excellent communication skills to work within the wider community, is essential to the role.
