Salary: £32,000- £36,000

Hours: 35 hours per week (5 days)

The role:

High Trees Community Development Trust is a community anchor charity based in Tulse Hill in Lambeth. We deliver a range of services focused in 4 key areas – Community Action, Children, Young People and Family Services, Community Education and Training and Employment and Careers. All our work is focused on improving the social and economic welfare of the local community.

Our Operations & Facilities Team Manager plays an integral role in ensuring the smooth running of our buildings and the organisations back office functions, enabling us to deliver high quality services to the communities in which we work. Our Operations & Facilities Manager is supported by a dedicated team, making sure the day to day running of our four busy community buildings and offices are taken care of and compliant with all current legislation. Equal focus to continual organisation improvement and efficiencies is essential, ensuring our policies and procedure are examples of best practice and implemented across the organisation, whilst also devising and implementing plans to ensure the revenue growth through venue hire and strong CSR partnerships.

High Trees needs a highly skilled, passionate, proactive and dynamic individual who will be capable of balancing the fast paced operational requirements with a strategic approach to ensuring the organisation and the service teams have all they need to operate effectively.  You will manage a small team of 2-4 staff, taking the lead within the organisation on facilities management, matters of organisational/operational policy and income generation related to venue hire and meaningful CSR engagement.

You will be an extremely well organised and gifted administrator who will lead on compliance, facilities/operational budget management and reviewing and updating operational policies. Overseeing the health and safety of the organisation, you will ensure all health and safety procedures are in place and being adhered to. 

This role will give an excellent oversight of how charities, and organisations, operate and what is needed to allow them to function – it combines managing community facilities, staff management, embedding policies and procedures with income generation and growing the CSR activity of the charity.  As part of the management team you will be expecting to contribute to the strategic growth and oversight of the organisation and help us implement best practice across the organisation.

You will have solid experience of balancing competing priorities, complex higher level administration and staff management.  You may have managed community facilities previously – and will certainly be familiar with what this may involve – or may have built your experience in project management in a community environment.  You will be familiar with the needs of a community based organisation and be drawn to working and contributing to a small staff team with social and community value as its ethos.  That said, we are far more interested in your aptitude and skills than direct experience – if you believe you can help High Trees operate efficiently and effectively we encourage you to apply.  You will however be comfortable with very quickly, and with support, filling in any gaps in your knowledge – be comfortable devising and implementing policies, quickly get up to speed with legislative requirements, proactively identifying improvements needed – and acting on these – and comfortable with managing your own workload and that of your team.  This is a varied and fast paced role which lies at the heart of the work High Trees does and allows the organisation to function at its best.
