Vera registered on High Trees Step Up programme in March 2018 and by June she had secured a job!
Vera is a qualified social worker, who shortly after qualifying had to move temporarily abroad to care for an unwell family member. When she moved back to London she lacked the confidence to apply for new jobs and she had been working for the past two years in the care industry earning less than London Living Wage.
Our Employment Project Officer worked with Vera to update her CV, supported her to re-register with HCPC (the regulatory body you must register with to work in certain healthcare professions) and supported her with job searching. Perhaps most importantly offering coaching to build her confidence, identify and highlight her skills and with interview preparation and presentation.
This led to Vera’s first sucessfull interview in over two years and she secured a Caseworker position with a national charity, doubling her income and allowing her to move into a career that offers great opportunities for progression.
