New play structures are now open at Tulse Hill Adventure Playground, with exciting new developments continuing to take shape across the site.
We’ve been working hard to transform Tulse Hill Adventure Playground, creating new spaces and structures that give local children and young people even more opportunities to play, explore and have fun outdoors.
The first phase of the makeover is already complete, with a range of brand-new play structures now open for children to enjoy. The new additions include a huge swing, zipline, connected climbing frames and a large slide, alongside a range of features designed to encourage adventurous and imaginative play. Children can test their confidence on high-level rope bridges, challenge themselves on the climbing structures and take the plunge down a 15ft fireman’s pole. These new structures are designed to give children the freedom to take risks, explore their surroundings and enjoy the experience of being outdoors and playing with friends.
When asked about their favourite new play structure, the most common response by far was the big swing. The risk and challenge of the swing play a crucial role in this, as one of the young people explained, “I really like the swing because there’s three different levels so you can challenge yourself to do any one of them.”
Our very own High Trees double-decker bus is also being rebooted, with speakers and decks being installed to create a dedicated space where our older young people can experiment with music and explore their creativity.
And the transformation doesn’t stop there. Work is about to begin on the playground’s pond, greenhouse, garden area and animal stables, creating even more opportunities for children and young people to connect with nature, learn new skills and get involved in caring for the environment. With planting planned for spring, the next stage of the project will help create a greener and more diverse space where children can play, learn and discover.
We’re excited to see the Adventure Playground continue to grow into a place where local children can play freely, try new things become connected with their local community and make memories outdoors.
