Employment, Education and Training

Our Employment, Education and Training Service focuses on improving local people’s skills and supporting them to gain a qualification whether they aim to be more involved in their local community or find a new job.

Our Approach:

Our focus is to deliver quality education and training that is mindful of the need for holistic support and pastoral care for people who have been disengaged from learning. We recognise that many learners have previously had little or negative experiences of education and training so we deliver all of our courses in a supportive environment. Our learners benefit from immediate responsiveness and programmes tailored to individual needs delivered in a local, welcoming environment. The result is that learners grow in confidence, gain employability skills and progress into opportunities in further or higher education, training, volunteering and employment.

High Trees has been delivering adult learning for the past 16 years. We currently hold training contracts with Lambeth Adult Learning Service, Lambeth Early Years and Lambeth Housing for the provision of accredited and non-accredited courses. The curriculum is developed in response to local demand and priorities and all courses are planned in consultation with partners, service users, local residents and current learners. Our programmes cover a range of courses at all levels up to level 3 qualifications. Courses delivered this year include: ESOL, Childcare, employability, Maths, English and Functional Skills ICT.  We also support and develop innovative courses such as Discover Your Potential, a personal development course which combines elements of wellbeing and coaching and Africology, a course which covers the history, culture and politics of Africa and African people.  We work with and respond to a number of partners including primary and secondary schools, children’s centres, churches, an Approved Centre (for ex-offenders), and social landlords .
