Action
Through social action we support members of the local community to campaign for long-lasting change, on the issues important to them.
Our social action is always informed by listening to residents and communities in the local area first. Through our community research, people accessing our services and working with local groups, we identify the issues communities see as important and support them to take action. We do this by working with local residents and people accessing both our services and those of our partners to provide coaching, practical support, and training.
We support communities to lead a range of collective social action campaigns. In the past this has included petitions, protests, to roundtable discussions and events. We have supported residents of St. Martins Estate in campaigning to address damp and mould issues in their homes, resulting in repairs totalling almost two million pounds. We also assisted residents in campaigning for refunds on overcharged water bills, leading to hundreds of thousands of pounds returned to affected residents.
Currently, we are facilitating support for local groups to build more active, represented and civically engaged communities. Additionally, through the Lambeth Peer Action Collective, we are supporting young people in addressing the root causes of violence affecting their community.

Action linked to research
Our research to better understand the barriers facing individuals in work wanting to access ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) provision, has resulted in a number of ESOL course pilots. The learnings from these are being used to inform future ESOL delivery.
As part of the Lambeth Peer Action Collective, we have also been supporting young people in Lambeth to take action on insights emerging from their research into violence affecting young people.
Other action
We support local residents with taking actions across a range of issues that
they identified as important.
In the past these have included campaigns around damp and mould on St
Martins Estate and Tulse Hill Estate, challenging unfair water charges with
residents from St Martins and supporting residents on the Fields Estate to
organise and strengthen their collective voice.
