Celebrating successes and impact of the BounceBack programme

Apr 14, 2025 | Employment, News

The BounceBack programme, funded by the Walcot Foundation, ran from 2021 to 2024, with the aim of supporting young people (under 30) in Lambeth into employment. Across the borough, the programme delivered impressive results, reaching over 1,000 young people.

At High Trees, the programme also had a hugely positive and lasting impact. Over the three years, nearly 190 young people received tailored employment support, leading to fantastic outcomes:

  • 90 young people secured employment and the majority of them were also successful in obtaining job transition grants
  • 100 young people attended at least one employment workshop

Beyond those numbers, BounceBack also helped young people build crucial skills and develop their confidence. These outcomes were best demonstrated in May 2024, when High Trees hosted the London Councils Youth Employment Paper Launch. During this event, BounceBack participants gave powerful presentations to an audience of key stakeholders. Their communication skills and confidence had developed considerably, a testament to the impact of the programme, as they had not felt ready to speak publicly when they first came to High Trees.

Partnership working was also a vital element of the programme’s success. Through regular collaboration and shared learning with partners across Lambeth, we were able to strengthen our support and continually adapt to best meet the needs of young people.
