High Trees recently contributed an essay, exploring the growing field of community-led research and the work still needed to ensure its impact. Our CEOs went on to further explore these topics at a panel hosted by the British Science Association.
With community research gaining in popularity, High Trees CEOs, Anna Coffey and Grace English, reflect on what’s still required to ensure research taking place is meaningful and grounded in the needs, issues and concerns of local communities. They emphasise the importance of developing a shared understanding of what we mean by community research, defining quality standards and applying rigorous principles when commissioning community research. Their essay also highlights the valuable work already being done by the Lambeth Community Research Network to address these challenges.
This essay is part of a series published by the British Science Association, supported by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), exploring the power of community-engaged research.
