October marks Black History Month, and we are excited to share a range of free events across Lambeth including activities run by High Trees, local events in Lambeth as well as events hosted by our Place for All Partnership. Find all the event details and booking links below.

Black Culture Market

Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd October | 11:00-7:00pm

The Department Store, Brixton | Free Entry

Head to the Black Cultural Market for an inspiring showcase of carefully selected black businesses for Black History Month. This event supports emerging entrepreneurs & new black businesses of African & Caribbean decent with opportunities to sell their products.

Celebrating Black Inventors – Craft Session

Youth & Play Session at the Adventure Playground with a focus on Black inventors. Learn about Garrett Morgan, the inventor of the traffic light and create colourful crafts and food!

Hairvolution: Her Hair, Her Story, Our History

Join Kemi Bamgbose for a reading of her book When Mr Mandela Came to Town. In her debut children’s book retells her story as an 11-year-old girl when the President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela visited Brixton on 12 July 1996.
