We’re delighted to share that the Lambeth Peer Action Collective (LPAC) was recently awarded the Locality ‘Power of Community’ Award, for their inspiring youth-led research and social action.
The Power of Community award celebrates community organisations working with local people to shape their own future and to build a fairer society where everyone in the community thrives.
LPAC is a collective of young people and youth organisations based in Lambeth, working together to create better futures for young people through youth-led research and social action. The LPAC partnership is led by High Trees and is made up of five other local youth organisations (Juvenis, Spiral Skills, St Matthew’s Project, IRMO and MLCE).
Their research into violence affecting young people in Lambeth and the role of trusted adults and youth spaces in reducing young people’s exposure to violence, is a shining example of what can happen when local people and organisations come together, united by a shared vision.
As one LPAC team member reflects:
“I firmly believe in empowering people to be counted, especially those whose voices are typically muffled, and I am motivated by the opportunity to cause those voices to count by turning them into tangible, real action.”
